The Global Economic Prospects (GEP) has estimated the South Asian Economy has grown by 8.4% in 2007. Consumer demand in the region has been boosted by expanding credit, rising incomes and strong worker remittances.
South Asia experienced investment growth being buoyant, as the business sentiments transmitted was positive. Revenue and profits of the corporate sector catapulted to make it the most attractive region for global players.
The 2008 growth in South Asia is expected to ease to 7.9% in response to slower external demand whilst, the Global growth is estimated to settle at 3.6%.
